Conquer Cervical Cancer 2018

This project was delivered by the Cancer Control Consortium, led by Marjorie Bash Foundation. Its goal was to educate high school students in Abia, Rivers and Plateau States on cervical cancer. It featured presentations, essay and quiz competitions.

Cancer Control in Primary Care Course (Awka, Anambra State), 2018

This was a 5-day training program for doctors and nurses in Anambra State. It focused on advocacy, screening and early detection of common cancers. Under the leadership of Anambra State Ministry of Health and Breast Without Spot, Marjorie Bash Foundation participated as technical partner in the implementation of this project.

Oga Blue Prostate Cancer Awareness Project, 2017

This project was delivered by the Cancer Control Consortium, led by Marjorie Bash Foundation. Its goal was to educate men in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Rivers and Plateau States on prostate cancer. This project combined the power of social media and cloud computing, to deliver focused awareness by using high-quality videos. Over 2,000 men and women were reached in person, and more than 6,000 through Facebook.

Inclusive Entrepreneurship and Digital Literacy (IEDL), 2013

Inclusive Entrepreneurship and Digital Literacy (IEDL) Project (Nnewi, Anambra State)People with disabilities are often excluded from the community. The IEDL project aimed to train people with disabilities on basic business planning as well as the use of digital devices. In addition to the training, participants were funded to start small-scale businesses, such as soap making and mobile phones accessories business. This project was funded by Irish Aid (Ireland Embassy in Nigeria). Other partners in the project are Joint National Association of Persons with disabilities (JONAPWD, Anambra State Chapter), Development Initiative for Technology and Empowerment and Church of Christ, Nnobi Road, Nnewi.

Reproductive Health Awareness (Aba, Abia State), 2011

Working with the leadership of Unique Christian High School we taught about 150 students in senior secondary school classes about sexual health and HIV. The one-day event ended with a drama skit by the students on reproductive health.

World AIDS Day Secondary Schools Quiz Competition (Nlagu, Abia State), 2010

This event was hosted in partnership with Nigerian Christian Hospital and Nigerian Christian High School, both in Abia State. It featured lectures about HIV/AIDS, as well as quiz competition among four schools from Obingwa LGA (Abia State) and Essien Udim LGA (Akwa Ibom State). it was supported by members of the National Youth Service Corps, Essien Udim LGA.

Training of Traditional Birth Attendants, 2010


Training of Traditional Birth Attendants (Ndiakata, Obingwa LGA, Abia State). Working with a team of medical experts from Nigerian Christian Hospital, our foundation helped train traditional birth attendants in this remote community on the management of labor. This was part of our attempt to reduce the rising maternal mortality in remote parts of Nigeria.

Community HIV and Cancer Awareness, 2009


Community HIV and Cancer Awareness (Owo-Ahiafor, Obingwa LGA, Abia State) At the invitation of the Women’s Fellowship of United Evangelical Church, our foundation sponsored a team comprising a doctor and nursing students to teach members of this fellowship about breast cancer. We also taught them about HIV/AIDS.

Similar events were held at the Assemblies of God Church (Ukaegbu Road, Aba, Abia State) for both their Men and Women Fellowships.

DONAP Project, 2008


Doctors to Neglected Areas Project (DONAP) Mbiabam, Ibiono LGA Akwa Ibom State.We partnered with local health professionals at University of Uyo Teaching Hospital to deliver health care at this lovely rural community. Hosted by the local Church of Christ and supported by local pharmaceutical companies, our team provided basic medical care to more than 200 community members over two days.
